Innastu Bekenna Hrudayakke Rama Song Lyrics & English Translation

Innastu Bekenna Hrudayakke Rama is a beautiful, melodious, devotional song in Kannada. This is not just a devotional song, but a complete surrender to lord Rama. A silent and cute conversation of a devotee with lord Rama. It explains the presence of Rama in every breath, every struggle, every moment of his life.

I first heard this song in a calm, soulful voice in a temple. And something in it stayed with me. Not just the words, but the emotion behind every line. It felt like someone was opening their heart and talking directly to God. Below are the Kannada song lyrics with their English meaning.

Another similar devotional song that I love to chant everyday is Hanuman Chalisa. Obviously, it is a world known truth that there is no Hanuman without Rama.

Song English Transliteration & Meaning

This complete song is a soulful and cute conversation between lord Rama and his devotee. The devotee is trying to say that praying Rama, being with Rama, and worshiping him gives the happiness in life. And that happiness cannot be found anywhere else. He is trying to explain what he feels about his God Rama. How he is special than anyone else. Does he has any complaints in life. All these things devotee has explained in his song.

Innastu bekenna hrudayakke Rama
Ninnashtu nemmadiyu ellihudo Rama

The starting line of the song is very catchy and special. It says “The happiness I find in you (Rama), I cannot find it anywhere else.” My heart feels never enough of you. It always seeks more and more. What magic have you done on me Rama? He further says, even with everything else in my life, I don’t find that peace, I find in you. Nothing else seems to satisfy me. If it can, it is your presence alone.

Ninnishtadantena ittiruve Rama
Nannishtadantella kottiruve Rama

In these lines, the devotee is showing his gratitude towards lord Rama. It is a kind of thank you note, saying you have given me everything. You have showered your blessings on me and kept my life as you wish. Also, you have given and fulfilled everything that I wished for in my life. It’s a humble surrender and a realization that both giving and receiving come from Him.

 Kashtagala kodabeda ennalare Rama
Kashta sahisuv sahane kodu nanage Rama

In this stanza, the devotee shows his strong belief in Rama by saying, “I will never ask you to fill my life only with happiness. I can’t ask you to take away my pain, Rama. All I ask you is to give me enough strength and make me strong enough to go through all the problems in life.” Instead of asking for an easy life, he is asking for the strength to solve those struggles of life.

Olitinede munnedeva manavakodu Rama
Seletakke sigadante sthirate kodu Rama

These lines explain what is important in life. It says, let my mind think and walk towards goodness only. And keep me away from the materialistic temptations in life, as these temptations may pull me away from my actual goal in life. Here the devotee is praying for stability. For discipline. For the ability to stay rooted in values even when life pulls in a hundred directions.

Ninnegal paapagala sonnaagisu Rama
Naaḷegaḷu punyagala haadiyaagali Rama

It says, knowingly or un-knowingly I might have done mistakes and sins in my life. Please erase those sins of my past. And let my future walk on the path of good deeds now onwards. It’s a soft request for a new beginning in the Rama. Seeking for a fresh chance. The devotee is not ashamed, but honest, and asking to be cleansed and redirected.

Nanna baalige ninna hasiva kodu Rama
Nanna toḷige ninna kasuvu kodu Rama

Kannu kaladaru ninna kanasu kodu Rama
Nanna haranake ninna charana kondu Rama

My only hunger in life is you, Rama. So give it more, and give strength to my arms. Here the devotee’s desire is not for wealth or power. But longing for lord Rama. The wish is to always crave his god’s presence, to have His strength flowing through every action.

He further says that even if I lose my eyesight, let me still dream of you. I am sure that when I make mistakes or lose my way, you will come to guide me. The devotee wants to keep the vision of Rama alive in the soul.

Kausalyeyaguvenu maḍilaliruva Rama
Vaidehiyaguvenu oḍanaadu Rama

Paadukeya taleyalidu Bharatanaguvenu Rama
Sahavaasa kodu nanage Saumitri Rama

We all know how that Kashalya is the mother of lord Rama. So the devotee is saying he wants to become ma Kaushalya, so that he can hold lord Rama in his lap always. And he desires to become Sita, the wife of Rama. So that he can stay and walk beside Rama always. It means the devotee here is expressing his wish to stay close to Rama, in any form.

Further he says, he wants to keep Rama’s paduka (sandals) on his head just like Bharata (Rama’s Brother). And become Lakshmana and accompany him everywhere. Rama’s companionship is all the soul needs. This stanza shows the highest forms of respect and loyalty towards Rama.

Sugreevanaguvenu sneha kodu Rama
Hanumanaguvenu ninna seva kodu Rama

Shabariyaguvenu ninna bhaava kodu Rama

Just like the above stanza, the devotee’s wish to stay with Rama continues here also. Now he is saying he wants to become Sugriva so that he can be blessed with Rama’s evergreen friendship. And he wants to become Hanuman so that he can serve Rama for his lifetime. He further says he also desires to become Shabari, who waited for lord Rama patiently for decades.

Whether as a friend or as a servant, the devotee asks for connection. To share love, to serve without ego, to be part of something divine. He is not asking for anything flashy or loud, but a steady, simple, and full of faith.

Maḍilalli maraṇakodu naa Jatayuvu Rama
Muḍiyalli adiyanidu naa Ahalyeyu Rama

Naa Vibhishana sharana bhaava kodu Rama
Nannolage Ravanage saavu kodu Rama

In this stanza, the devotee wants to die like Jatayu in Rama’s lap. And to be Ahalya so that his god can place his head on him, with love. In life and even in death, the devotee wants Rama’s touch and blessings. He continues his wish to become Vibhishana and surrender completely. And requests Rama to kill the Ravana in him. Means to kill the ego, the anger, the pride.

Kannira kareyuvenu nannatana kale Rama
Ninnolage karaguvanu nirmoha kodu Rama

R̥ata neene r̥itu neene shruti neene Rama
Mati neene gati neene dyuti neene Rama

By this stanza, the devotee is asking to liberate him from all the attachments, burn his ego, and dissolve completely in Rama. Because he says Rama is the only truth, the only light, the only path for life. Rama is not just one person, he is the entire universe. And there is nothing more he desires than Rama now.

Aarambha astitva antya nee Rama
Poorna nee prakatana nee aananda Rama

Hara neene Hari neene Brahma nee Rama
Guri neene guru neene arivu neene Rama

In these final lines, the final stanza, he says that Rama is the beginning, the existence, and the end of our lives and the universe. Everywhere and everything, it’s only Rama. And nothing remains except Rama. This shows that the devotee completely dissolves the self.
He further says Rama is the Shiva, the Vishnu, and the Brahma. He is the creator, the destructor of everything. He is the teacher and the truth we discover at the end. Rama is the end of the search.
